Review: Season of Love by Helena Greer

Are you already in the holiday mood? If so, then you have to read Season of Love. I am 100% already here for the holidays and I loved this charming and heartfelt romance! Keep reading this book review for my full thoughts.

Summary

Miriam Blum has no choice but to face the past she thought she’d left behind when she inherits her great-aunt’s Christmas tree farm in this witty, glittering, heart-filled romcom.

Thanks to her thriving art career, Miriam Blum finally has her decoupaged glitter ducks in a row—until devastating news forces her to a very unwanted family reunion. Her beloved great-aunt Cass has passed and left Miriam part-owner of Carrigan’s, her (ironically) Jewish-run Christmas tree farm.

But Miriam’s plans to sit shiva, avoid her parents, then put Carrigan’s in her rearview mirror are spoiled when she learns the business is at risk of going under. To have any chance at turning things around, she’ll need to work with the farm’s grumpy manager—as long as the attraction sparking between them doesn’t set all their trees on fire first.

Noelle Northwood wants Miriam Blum gone—even if her ingenious ideas and sensitive soul keep showing Noelle there’s more to Cass’s niece than meets the eye. But saving Carrigan’s requires trust, love, and risking it all—for the chance to make their wildest dreams come true.

Review

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

In this dual POV romance, I could not pick which character I loved most. I adored the way Season of Love examines how the past haunts us. How there are secrets and ways that we hurt people without knowing it. The dual POV is a brilliant move to get us to know both Miriam and Noelle better from the beginning, plus we can see their opinions of each other – the attraction and (mis)communication. At the beginning, I fell in love with the characters. All the ways Miriam’s past forces her to reckon with herself and those she hurt. How Noelle has to be willing to risk getting hurt.

But what Noelle and Miriam will learn is that no one is who we assume them to be. Emotionally, Season of Love is superb. Both our favorites have to process their grief, loss, and past. Our fears, insecurities, and doubt. To realize that finding a new dream, risking it all, is worth it. Together the chemistry in Season of Love was electric. But on their own, Miriam and Noelle are fantastic characters. Their character development is heartfelt and thoughtful and if you love that combination of people with abandonment issues who fall in love with people who run – like me – then this is for you!

Season of Love, besides being a charming romance, is about when it’s time to let go and time to fight. To know when to pick our battles and know when something is worth fighting for just for the chance we might win.
